Why Should We Care?

By understanding the factors that govern the importance of a greenhouse gas, we can determine which gases have the greatest effects on Earth’s radiation balance and, subsequently, Earth’s climate. This knowledge is very useful when considering effective management of anthropogenic climate change. Climate change mitigation efforts can be made to target emissions of the greenhouse gases that have the greatest potential to adversely change the radiation balance that influences Earth's climate.
